To receive a complimentary copy of a book/series you love is such an honor & wonderful privilege. And not that I will not make an honest review of this book even if I didn't receive one, so here it goes...Overwhelming! Cassia Leo did an impressive job in Relentless and she did it again in Pieces of You. The situations and emotions in this story is as real, honest & raw as it can get. It was overwhelming (in a VERY good way) coz in this book, you get to read 3 sides of the story with more revelations & feelings from the characters and you get to dig deeper with what is going through inside their heads. Every POV is detailed with so much emotion, clarity & honesty. Cassia wrote every word & piece without holding back, from Claire to Adam and then to Chris' POV, it was no holds barred.
"Good `cause I'm about to wreck you."
I'm going to love Adam til the very end of this series, even if he doesn't end up with Claire. But I will say this, it'll piss me off BIG time. I don't want to c**k block Team Adam here but in Relentless, the dedication there was `For Chris' & I hope it doesn't have anything to do with who Claire is going to end up with. Okay, so I'm TEAM ADAM and yes he has issues, it was revealed in Relentless but it didn't stop him to make his move & say what he feels. He was strong in his own way and is not afraid to show it. He fights for what he wants and he did fight for Claire along with his demons. In this book, he is still the same Adam we've known from Relentless but so much more. Reading this book, I got to see Adam's weak side. He did press one VERY wrong button in this story and as much as it broke Claire's heart it also broke mine...
"I love you, Claire. I want you to know that I won't do anything to jeopardize what we have. And I trust you, but I also want you to know that if anything does happen while I'm gone, I won't hesitate to hop on a plane and come back here to fight for what's mine. I can't lose you."
Promises is only as good if you work for it but what he did was bad for him & Claire's situation and given what was happening around em, it was such a wrong move. Okay, fine. To be fair to Adam, I understand where he is coming from but it didn't help his cause. It worsen it and as much as I want to slap Claire and as much as I will always (I think) be Team Adam, the blame is on him and what he got somehow he deserves.
"Knock, knock."
She rolls her eyes. "Who's there?"
"Sherwood."
"Sherwood, who?"
"Sherwood like to stay, but I have to get going now."
Adam got me through his `Knock, knock' jokes. It was corny but it did the trick. He was cocky but sweet and his humor is well, funny even if it's so corny but he is a good man and I think he is my new Book BF. Ha! It was nice to read again some of his jokes, terrible or not. It was one of the reasons why I love this series coz every now and then ya get to read something funny when the situation is sad and heartbreaking and like Claire, it will also make you smile.
"This ain't our last goodbye, it's our last hello.
I can feel it in my shattered heart; all through my weary bones.
You're the missing piece, the final scrap.
Someday we'll fit together; someday I'll bring you back."
On the other hand, readers of this series also get to see the side of Chris that will make girls swoon and get answers from all the questions they have, well we all have in Relentless. (Hooray! for Team Chris) For a second, I was about to jump the bandwagon and follow em coz even if I hated him on Relentless, he is trying to make things right with Claire and is leading the score since Adam was a bit off in this book. He is doing the right thing, making good moves and it made Claire feel that she is not alone.
"What would make you happy?"
Now that's a question Claire has to answer unselfishly, not just for herself but for the people around her. In the very beginning of this book, Claire's POV was strong and true and as the story progresses it became so emotional and it was a bit hard for me to read the whole story. The fact that she was hurting and yet she managed to stay strong was hard. I was thinking of a lot of things, worst possible ways how this book will end and reading til the end was a slow process. I had to prepare myself for what I am about to read coz I don't want this story to end up like an effin love triangle gone wrong. It would really have sucked. Thank God it didn't, at least not in this book. Claire needs to find herself and learn how to be the woman that she needs to be. I personally think she needs to settle other important issues in her life before she decides on other issues. The fact that Cassia wrote how Claire made the right decision before the ending made me proud of what kind of girl she is and will be. BRAVA! And the ending pretty much gave what's in store in book 3. *wink
Cassia gave a satisfying ending to this book. Satisfying because it didn't hurt nor make you feel all giddy, it's just satisfying to know that in book 3 (hopefully) things will be settled and everyone will somehow be at peace and have their happy ending. And that's satisfying for me coz we have something to look forward to.
Fans of Cassia Leo and Relentless will truly enjoy Pieces of You, I know coz I did. And the title, by the way is perfect for this book. I could not think of a better title for this. Reading such wonderful and emotional story bout love is always my guilty pleasure. This kind of story is one of the reasons why I love reading books, it's like food to my in denial romantic heart. *wink *wink

This is TOO MUCH. The amount of tears I shed was like nothing I ever experienced with another book. It's a Must Read!
And BTW I'm Team Chris.
The author delivers again in the third book to this series, this book is a rollercoaster of emotions, The author is amazing with her story telling and I cannot wait to see where this story goes, Team Adam or Team Chris, right at this moment I cannot decide, so for now I will be Team Both, this story is brilliant and I highly recommend this book
This book broke my heart! I cant even explain the angst I feel just thinking if I was in Claire's skin... and I'm repeating myself from my previous review of the first book.

This was it for me. I can't continue to read the series. What I loved most about the first book was Claire's strength and compassionate, authentic choices. Watching Claire bounce back and forth between two love interests was just painful and an unnecessary plot device. Not too mention the handling of the pregnancy in the first place -- she spent four years with the Knights and her decisions made me as the reader feel like we were doped in the first book regarding her character growth.
I am honestly impressed that a character and storyline I found refreshing took such an unbelievable nosedive. And now she is holding on to two life changing options, both of which seem contrived if we actually consider the timeline. Yes, characters grow and have setbacks but this is not the same person...and I honestly don't believe this direction made for a compelling journey, if anything it made staying with Claire on this train wreck near impossible. Lastly, what decade are we in, did she need to pass out that much when confronted with surprises.
