This author got me hooked when I read The Religion, a story about the battle for Malta between the Christians and the Turks. He gave a balanced tale of the political forces that provoked this conflict, as well as the effects these forces had on the people involved. No good guys bad guys, just this is what's happening and wraps it up in an unforgettable story that lets you see something else every time you read it. I was happy to find another of his books on Amazon. As he writes about the speed of a glacier, im saving this book to savor on a rainy winters day

Great Book it almost made me cry in certain parts. Also I love how the author made the main character who is a dog and it is just amazing.
A great story with talking dogs. What's not to like?
DOGLANDS AN INTERESTING FAST READ PET LOVERS WILL LOVE IT.GIVES GREAT INSIGHT INTO THE AUTHORS LOVE OF ANAMILS AND HIS OPINIONS OF HOW THEY ARE TREATED. GOOD TALE WILL BRING A TEAR TO YOUR EYE.
This was purchased as a gift. The book arrived promptly and was, as represented, in good condition. I glanced through it and liked what I saw. Dr. Willocks is an excellent writer and this was up to the standard that I have learned to expect from him.
In our modern age when man has been homogenized and pasteurized, when we have begun to reek of a putrid sameness Willocks reveals to us through his brilliant book that the highest state of being for any of us is individual freedom. Through the eyes of Furgul we see ourselves unveiled - and much of what we see is... well, not pretty at all. We have much work to do. Books like this strike us in our hearts and souls and give us the courage to keep trying, to keep working toward being more than kept pets of the state.
I was skeptical at first with the way the dogs portray humans, but it ended up being a great book!!!
I ordered this book because I'd discovered this author's "The Religion" this summer on vacation. It's a wonderful read - whimsical, tender, heart-in-the-right-place moral - and Dr. Willocks is a brilliant wordsmith. But the ending was somehow lacking in the summing-up quality I kinda wanted it to have. Maybe it's my fault.
