Politics almost a joke it's self.
A fun read and great descriptions bring the political infighting to life in the mind. Love lust and power struggles keep the story moving (not to mention a few twist).
The humor and reality go hand in hand.
If you want a great read that makes you wonder (even more) about politicians and what they really get up to and a few laughs along the way this is it.
Over all a great story By Dianne Harman,

This is the worst book I've ever read! There goes two nights I'll never get back. That's what happens when you let people publish their own book.
We all know politics is filled with strange bedfellows, some who are out for everything they can get and others who pander to anyone and everyone. Tea Party Teddy is a story that captures the down and dirty nature of politics to a tee (pun intended). Dianne Harman knows the inner workings of California politics and brings it to light in this interesting novel. While I don't know much about California politics, I can see the same characteristics in all the other states in which I have lived.

Multiple plot twists, romance and the always present battle between good and evil are all part of this book. Excellent job Dianne. Now, I think I'll read Blue Coyote Motel.
Lies, betrayal and scandal in the California Statehouse along with a healthy dose of hatred make for an exciting story by Dianne Harman. Author of the Blue Coyote Motel series, Dianne takes us to Sacramento where Teddy Randall, the Tea Party darling and hated foe of immigrants, legal or otherwise, runs for Assemblyman. Always deep in debt the temptations mounted as high as his hatred of Mexicans.

Dianne Harman has crafted a compelling book, rich in details about Sacramento politics. She takes you right into the Statehouse where you’ll read about everything that goes on outside of newspaper coverage. The book is a real page turner with a gripping plot of betrayal and revenge. I highly recommend Tea Party Teddy.
Received the wonderfully, written goodreads giveaway ebook Tea Party Teddy by Dianne Harman.

The only thing Teddy Randall cares about is getting elected and staying elected to bring down the illegal Mexican Latinos. He has two sons and a wife, Nina, whose only function in his life is politics. Dianne Harman portrays the corrupt and scandalous legislatures, having affairs and taking $10,000 bribes for their yes votes.

In running for the election, Teddy runs out of money and has to borrow money from a mob boss with high interest. He leads a parade against a Latino get together, cites a riot, and in the process a man's wife loses her unborn child. Lee wants to seek revenge against Teddy for the loss of his wife's baby. Meanwhile, Lee's partner, Bill, ends up having an affair and falling madly in love with Teddy Randall's wife, Nina. Will Teddy end up like some of the other legislatures having affairs, taking bribes? Will Teddy find out about his wife's affair?

Read the highly recommended exciting, revealing book Tea Party Teddy by Dianne Harman.
Tea Party Teddy gives an inside look at the Sacramento, CA government. From the new politician on the hill to the ones who's been there so long they know all the goings on like they know the back of their hand.

Teddy, is a niave politician, he's a racist, a family man, and really wants to be "the" representative of his constituents. He wants to do his job and make a difference. But of course, he pisses people off along the way. Even though I didn't like Teddy, the end saddened me. I actually felt bad for the guy.

I think the writing could have been a bit more polished, but definitely an interesting read. As an author, Harman and her books are making waves.
This is a quick and at times humorous read about a political career gone awry and for good reason. Teddy Randall is a single issue wanna-be politico who gets elected to California's assembly on a radical anti-immigration platform. His zeal earned him enough radical right support to get him to Sacramento but not enough to pay his hefty campaign bills. Once in Sacramento, Teddy's naiveté sucks him into a round of boozy fundraising and next-election-chasing, a loan from the Mob, and manipulation from lobbyists who know how to play the game far better than he ever will.

Teddy thinks he's handling it all but as he fumbles from one bad decision to the next, his wife Nina has an affair with his worst enemy (an articulate centrist Latino lawyer, Bob Silva, whose grassroots political network is the opposite of Teddy's braying). But it's not really the Nina-Bob-Teddy triangle that gets Teddy in the end, but an enemy who actually has a personal grudge rather than a political one. The message of the book is that radical views are easily exploited and never lead to a positive outcome for anybody.

I liked the way the author didn't push an opposing liberal agenda, but let Teddy's actions speak for themselves (be prepared for some rude language). Nor did the author make him out to be a complete "bad guy" but as a man out of his depth and clinging to the one issue that gains him support; Teddy is an engineer, not a career politician, after all.

There's a lot of chunky dialogue, I would have liked to see Nina become more independent, and the ending stretched out instead of giving the book a snappy closure. But overall, this was an effective bit of political satire that if treated with a deft hand, would make a good movie similar to "My Fellow Americans" or "Welcome to Mooseport."
