Funny, I am in the middle.
Happens to be, I love comic books. So, much of this, rings like something I would have enjoyed. However, it really is more like introduction chapters to books, rather than a story itself. I agree with one of the reviews, some of it was like a creative writing exercise.... If those writing were really GOOD creative writers. Not all of the stories end, (in fact most don't), though it doesn't QUITE feel like cliff hangers, simply because most of them were too SHORT to get real development of the characters.

That said, it was enjoyable.
Will I read it again? Probably not.
Would I recommend it? Yea.. but it should be 1.99 not 2.99

If it goes on sale, and you like alternative ideas to superheros and super villains, get it.
Also the E. Gannon story in this was also released in Mad Scientist Guide to Dating. Bummer that I paid for that twice. I don't know if the others were found in other Anthologies, I had not read them before.

This was a fun read! Being an anthology, each story offers a different world inhabited with its own unique characters. Humor, romance, drama—there's a little something for everyone!

I especially liked the story "Lovesick Chasing the Storm", told from the demented point of view of a villain who falls in love with a superhero and tries endlessly to impress him by committing horrific crimes.
"powerless against you" is a great book and you will not regret you purchase. It has first time published writers in it but don't let that scare you because every story is beautifully written with well rounded characters you'll get attached too even though it's a short story. It has a bunch of original shorty stories so there is a story for everyone's taste. I didn't like "No more Mr. Bad Guy" because the main character guy is a bully to the main girl. the author spends a lot of time to show the reader how much of an ass he is to the main girl; it seems like the author wants the reader to hate him. I (personal) really dislike paring up people with emotionally abusive people.(still the story is beautifully written and the only reason I got upset is because I got really attached to the main girl; that's a mark of really good writer) "Lovesick Chasing a storm" is kind of like that but pulls it off better for me and so I loved it. This is just to show you that if you don't like one story, there will be another story for you to love. its good to have options. buy this book buy it now!!!!!!
Some stories were good others meh. Some authors are better at writing full length stories rather than short ones. Their shorts are like a chef taking a full course meal and throwing it into a pot pie. You just can't fit everything in and it doesn't mesh well.

Don't give up on an author. If you like any elements of their short, I encourage you to check out their full-length stories. One of my favorite authors who writes terrific full length stories has written lousy shorts. (In a different anthology).
Boring and stupid!
I found the stories unappealing and the characters rather flat. Furthermore, the writing reminded me of my freshman creative writing class.

Was ok till the last story, it made this whole book 1/2 star instead of 3 stars. Definitely not a romance, more a horror story.
